BUILDING MY BRAND: DOPE INTERVIEWS WORTH WATCHING! (FRENCH MONTANA - THE IMPORTANCE OF VISUALS)

THIS BLOG SEGMENT IS DEDICATED NOT ONLY TO THE GROWTH OF MY OWN BRAND, BUT TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN AND/OR BUILDING THEIR OWN BRAND.  I READ ABOUT BRAND BUILDING ALL THE TIME.  FROM NOW ON, WHENEVER I RUN ACROSS AN ARTICLE THAT SPEAKS DIRECTLY TO ME, I WILL REPOST IT HERE.  HOPEFULLY, SOME OF THE BOWTIE COMMUNITY ALSO FINDS VALUE IN THE JEWELS I RUN ACROSS WHILE WORKING ON MINE, THROUGH THIS EFFORT TO SHARE THE INFORMATION.

FRENCH MONTANA

 

 

BORN AND RAISED IN CASABLANCA, MOROCCO UNTIL THE AGE OF 13, FRENCH MONTANA IS A FIRST GENERATION MOROCCAN-AMERICAN.  RECENTLY, I CAME ACROSS A VIDEO INTERVIEW THE HIP-HOP ARTIST DID, ENTITLED THE ART OF THE MUSIC VIDEO.  HIS OPENING STATEMENT SOLIDIFIED A BELIEF AND STRATEGY THAT I HAVE UTILIZED FOR MY BRAND’S APPROACH, SINCE CREATING MY FIRST VIDEO PROJECT IN 2013.  THAT STATEMENT IS SIMPLY:

 

“I ALWAYS BELIEVED THAT VISUAL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT AUDIO.”

 

WHEN I BEGAN STUDYING THE FASHION INDUSTRY 8 YEARS AGO, VIDEO ADS AND COMMERCIALS ALWAYS STOOD OUT TO ME MOST.  I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER A SPRITE COMMERCIAL TYSON BECKFORD DID, WHERE HE PARTED WAYS WITH HIS FRIENDS ON THE STREET AND WALKED DIRECTLY ONTO THE RUNWAY.   I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT APPROACH WAS AN EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT WAY TO CAPTURE MULTIPLE DEMOGRAPHICS, FOR SELLING THE PRODUCT.  SLANG MUSIC GROUP DID AN AMAZING JOB WITH THAT COMMERCIAL!

 

 

 

 

 

CREATING VIDEO ADS/PROJECTS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF MY BOW TIE CIGAR BRAND, AS WELL AS MY OTHER UPCOMING BRAND’S UNDER THE BOWTIE UMBRELLA, IS AN IMPORTANT STRATEGY IN MY BIG PICTURE.  AS FRENCH MONTANA ALSO SAID IN THE VIDEO LINKED ABOVE:

 

“JUST THAT LITTLE 5 SECONDS ON TV IS BETTER THAN MAKING 1000 ALBUMS, IF NOBODY SEES YOUR FACE.”

 

FOR BRAND OWNERS OUT THERE, MARKETING IS OBVIOUSLY VERY IMPORTANT, AND IT COSTS.  WHAT TOOLS YOU CHOOSE TO UTILIZE, AND THE PERCENTAGE OF EACH IN YOUR OVERALL SCHEME, SHOULD BE A CONSCIOUS DECISION YOU MAKE.  ALSO, LEARN HOW TO MEASURE AND INTERPRET YOUR RESULTS, FROM EACH PROJECT.  KNOWING WHETHER THE RETURN ON INVESTMENT EXISTS OR NOT, IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW.  TRUST ME…IT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY AND TIME IN THE LONG RUN.
